Hello, I'm Doctor Edward Montgomery.
Since 2017, I've had the honor of serving as president of Western Michigan University, an institution that educates and empowers students for meaning, for careers, and fulfilling lives.
Our commitment to excellence is reflected in the fact that nine out of 10 graduates are employed quickly, working in their fields, and jobs that they like.
At Western, we take pride in offering experience-driven academics with a diverse array of programs.
Our outstanding colleges, including our College of Health and Human Services, the College of Arts and Sciences, Haworth College of Business, and the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, have highly ranked degree programs that provide students with a robust foundation for career success.
Western is also home to an aviation college ranked No. 2 in the United States. Our College of Aviation stands as one of the largest and most innovative aviation programs in the nation.
Our commitment to providing a top-flight aviation education is evident in the college's state-of-the-art facilities, including a new $20 million Aviation Education Center, and the imminent arrival of a new fleet of serious aircraft.
And with strong partnerships with major airlines, including Delta and United, the college propels students on a fast track to jobs.
As an institution, Western Michigan University also takes great pride in being globally engaged. About 12% of our student body is made up of international students.
We not only welcome students and scholars from across the globe, we actively forge partnerships with international institutions.
I had the pleasure of experiencing this global connection firsthand during a recent visit to Korea, addressing members of the National Assembly, and meeting with high-ranking officials from the Korean Aerospace University and Seoul National University. I witnessed the deep appreciation Korea has for education and innovation.
This appreciation is further manifested in the exceptional Korean students who choose to enroll at Western Michigan University every year.
